Rainwater Harvesting - Airbus Operations
This project involved the construction and installation of a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system, including the excavation and preparation of a 10x10m concrete slab base, installation of a 5x5m rainwater tank, and integration of supporting infrastructure such as electrical ducting, water piping, and stormwater diversion.
- Conducted a GPRS survey to detect and map any underground utilities before excavation.
- Excavated and prepared the ground for a concrete slab approximately 10m x 10m in size.
- Poured and leveled a 100mm thick concrete base slab to serve as the foundation.
- Constructed a pad for the concrete base, including the installation of formwork and steel reinforcement, then poured a 250mm thick concrete layer.
- Installed a new external rainwater harvesting tank, measuring 5m x 5m and 2.2 meters high.
- Installed a new galvanized steel staircase to provide access to the top of the rainwater tank.
- Installed a safety handrail around the perimeter of the tank’s top surface.
- Excavated a 220m trench to connect Plant Rooms 165 and 166 to the rainwater tank.
- Installed new 100mm electrical ducting from each plant room to the rainwater tank.
- Installed new 50mm MDPE water piping from each plant room to the rainwater tank.
- Cut into the existing siphonic fall pipe and diverted stormwater flow into the rainwater harvesting tank.
- Installed one new Stormsaver control unit in Plant Room 166.
- Installed one new Stormsaver control unit in Plant Room 165.
- Installed blue security mesh fencing around the perimeter of the external rainwater tank to restrict access and provide protection.
